Two City mad brothers will enjoy an experience of a lifetime on the Club’s pre-season tour after winning big with Cityzens.
Seasoncard holder Matthew Maxey and brother, Peter, have flown out to the United States with Pep Guardiola’s squad as lucky winners of the annual pre-season tour competition.
The duo, who hail from a City family, set off for Houston earlier this week and will be at the NRG Stadium for the Manchester derby, before following the team to LA and Nashville for the Real Madrid and Spurs friendlies.
A defeat marked the brothers' first visit to Maine Road in the early 90s, but they remained true to the cause and for Matthew this brotherly connection is to thank for winning this unforgettable experience.
“As I was being told I’d won the prize, I couldn’t recall entering it,” he said,
“Then I remembered my brother had told me to get involved. I don’t normally enter competitions, but I’m glad I did this time.”
With Peter taking credit for the assist, there was only one person Matthew could take with him and he can’t wait to see what the US has to offer, particularly the glitz and glamour of the City of Angels.
“I’m most looking forward to the LA stint,” added our prize winner.
“As well as watching City v Madrid I can’t wait to see what the city has to offer. I know a few people who live out there and they’ve promised to take us out and show us around.”
With flights, accommodation, access to training and tickets for all three matches, it’s no surprise this yearly competition has proved to be a fan favourite in recent years and the good news is, it’s about to become much easier to enter such prize giveaways.
The new Cityzens website will launch in the coming weeks, which, with new functionality, will make participating in competitions much simpler.
But for now, it’s over to Matthew and Peter to enjoy their experience stateside.
They’ll be documenting their experience over the next two weeks so stay tuned for a video of their time on tour.
