Manchester City were the victors of a breathless eight goal thriller at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday and as Champions League nights go, it was one of the very, very best you’re ever likely to see.
It had absolutely everything; beautiful play, fabulous goals and heaps of controversy but in the end, football was undoubtedly the true winner.
Who knew that when Raheem Sterling opened the scoring after 26 minutes, the rollercoaster of emotions had only just begun? Radamel Falcao levelled for Monaco six minutes later and then Sergio Aguero was denied a clear penalty at the other end.
Kylian M’Bappe’s goal gave Monaco a 2-1 half-time lead, Willy Caballero saved a second half penalty, Aguero equalised, Falcao scored again, Aguero equalised again, John Stones put City back in front and then Leroy Sane put the icing on the cake.
Watch what Bacary Sagna had to say about a truly marvellous night above.
